Faith to overcome

Read Matthew 25:14-23

Alright. Let's face it: Life's a struggle. Whether its financially, materially, relationally, emotionally, spiritually—sometimes life seems mainly a set of problems to be overcome, battles to be waged, trials to be endured.

Yes, there's no doubt about it. The Christian life is a struggle. But the good news is, that isn't the whole story! It's also a great and joyous exercise of faith. Its about becoming an overcomer.

By faith we assault the problems that beset us. By faith we defend ourselves
against the devil's schemes. By faith we believe that Jesus' life is being lived out in us. By faith we trust His commands are good for us. And by faith we trust this encouraging promise: The faithful will one day receive a glorious reward.

"He who overcomes will, like them, be dressed in white. I will never blot out his name from the book of life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels" (Revelation 3:5).

Our faith presently overcomes sin's penalty, and, to a degree, sin's power. But sin's power won't be fully eradicated until that day when Christ returns, giving us new and sinless bodies.

And on the day when sin is banished from the new heavens and new earth, we will hear Christ acknowledging us before His Father in the most beautiful words ever spoken: "Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world" (Matthew 25:34).
